Product information
This is one of our most popular small trees, and for good reason. In mid- to late spring, its arching, pendulous branches are absolutely covered in dense clusters of rich pink, fully double flowers. The young leaves emerge with a bronze tint at the same time, before turning a glossy green for the summer.
It’s a compact tree with a weeping habit, eventually forming a broad umbrella shape. Over time, it will typically reach a height and spread of around 3 to 4 metres. It performs best in a sunny and sheltered spot, and will be happy in most soils as long as they are moist but well-drained.
Once established on our Thurning ground, we find these trees need very little attention. Any pruning to remove damaged or crossing branches should be done in mid-summer to reduce the risk of disease. It’s a classic choice as a single specimen in a lawn, where its elegant shape can be appreciated all year round.
