Product information
‘Rosea Flore Pleno’ is a double pink form of midland hawthorn. In May the branches are covered in fully double rose-pink flowers, like little rosettes, smothering the tree for two to three weeks. The flowers hold up to rain and wind much better than the single forms.
It makes a small rounded deciduous tree, eventually around 5 to 6m tall and wide, with dense twiggy growth. Tough and urban-tolerant, copes with most soils and exposed sites. Thorny, as you’d expect from a hawthorn.
Plant in any well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Minimal pruning needed. Small red haws may appear after flowering, though the double form often produces fewer fruits than single hawthorns.
A lovely small specimen for a cottage garden, a front lawn, or as part of a mixed boundary planting.
