Product information

We’ve found the Inticancha series of Alstroemeria to be reliably impressive, and ‘Malaga’ is no exception. It produces clusters of bright, salmon-pink flowers, each with a sunny yellow throat marked with fine, dark brown streaks. These plants have been bred for a compact, non-invasive habit and they flower with real conviction from late spring right through to the first frosts. They are a brilliant choice for pollinators too.

This is a clump-forming perennial that will reach a height and spread of around 40cm. It performs best in a sheltered spot in full sun or partial shade, which encourages the strongest flowering. Plant it in fertile, well-drained soil; good drainage is key, as the fleshy roots can be prone to rotting in persistently wet winter ground.

To keep the flowers coming, it’s best to pull the entire spent flower stem from the base of the plant rather than cutting it. This clever trick stimulates the plant to produce new flower spikes. Its compact size makes it ideal for container growing on a patio or for adding a splash of long-lasting colour to the front of a sunny border.
