Delosperma ‘Ocean Sunset Violet’

‘Ocean Sunset Violet’ is an improved ice plant with noticeably larger flowers than older Delosperma varieties. Violet-purple petals blend into a pink base, with a crisp white eye at the centre.

It stays very low, around 10 to 15cm tall, spreading to 25 or 30cm wide — a mat-former rather than a mound. Flowers open wide in sun and close at night.

Gravelly, sharp-draining soil and full sun are non-negotiable. Brilliant for a gravel garden, the edge of a wall, alpine troughs, or anywhere that gets baked and bone-dry in summer.
