Celtis australis

Celtis australis is a deciduous spreading tree with a rounded, graceful crown. Dark green, oval, sharply-toothed leaves give a dense canopy through summer, turning pale yellow before dropping in autumn.

Reaches around 20 metres over time in the right conditions, though typically smaller in cooler UK climates. A good choice for a large garden, a park, or as a specimen tree where its mature form can be appreciated.

Full sun in well-drained soil. Tolerant of heat and drought once established, and of urban conditions. Minimal pruning — let it develop naturally.
