Product information
‘Purple Rain’ is a rich purple-flowered selection of Jacob’s ladder. Small cup-shaped deep purple-violet flowers open on upright stems above ferny pinnate green foliage from late spring into early summer, often with a second flush if cut back.
Plants reach around 40 to 50cm tall in flower, forming a tidy clump. Much loved by bees, and the ferny leaves look good even when the plant isn’t in flower.
Plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Cut back spent flower stems for a possible repeat flush. Divide clumps every few years.
A firm favourite for cottage-garden borders, partial-shade schemes, or mixed perennial plantings.
