Product information
‘Kanzan’ is one of the most famous Japanese flowering cherries, grown across Europe for its spectacular spring display. Clusters of large double rose-pink flowers open in late April to early May, smothering the upright vase-shaped crown in blossom. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Bronze-tinted young leaves emerge with the flowers, mature to dark green through summer, then turn warm yellow-orange in autumn. Forms a medium-sized tree with a distinctive upright vase habit when young, broadening to a rounded crown with age. Reaches around 8 to 10m tall.
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Prune only in midsummer, to avoid silver leaf.
A proper statement tree for a front garden, a lawn centrepiece, or lining a drive.
