Product information
‘Forest Pansy’ is one of the best-loved small garden trees. Pink pea-like flowers cover the bare branches in early spring, before the leaves appear. The leaves then unfurl an intense deep burgundy-red, gradually deepening to a dark purple through summer, with orange-red tints in autumn.
It forms a small, rounded, spreading tree eventually reaching around 5 to 6m tall and a similar spread. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun for the strongest leaf colour, sheltered from cold drying winds. Minimal pruning, just remove any crossing branches in winter.
A proper specimen tree for a lawn, a front garden, or anywhere you’d like rich burgundy foliage as a standout feature.
