Product information
‘Prinz Handjéry’ is a lovely small form of sycamore, bred for colour more than canopy. Young leaves emerge a soft pink in spring, mature through yellow-green to a settled green in summer, with purple tints on the undersides.
Long yellow flower racemes follow in late spring, and winged red-flushed seeds hang on through autumn. The whole effect is a tree that keeps changing through the year.
It stays modest, growing slowly to around 4 to 8m, with a rounded crown. Plant in full sun or partial shade in any reasonable well-drained soil. Tough and tolerant, copes with clay, chalk and urban pollution.
A brilliant specimen for a smaller garden where you’d like the look of a sycamore without the full-size tree.
