Product information

Elaeagnus x ebbingei ‘Compacta’ brings subtle interest all year from our Thurning nursery. The leathery leaves shimmer with silvery undersides and hints of bronze on top. Fragrant flowers emerge in small clusters from autumn, often into winter. They draw a gentle hum from late bees.

This dwarf form stays neat at 1.5-2m tall and wide. It grows bushy and dense, perfect for low hedges. It thrives in any well-drained soil, from chalk to clay. Full sun brings the best leaf colour, but it copes well in partial shade.

Water newly planted stock well in the first season. Little pruning needed, just trim after flowering if shaping for a hedge. It suits town gardens near Peterborough, coastal spots or containers on patios. Tough against salt wind and urban pollution.
