Herb mixed ‘Pizza Silver’

We’ve put this collection together on the nursery for anyone who loves cooking and a bit of silver in the garden. It’s a mix of classic herbs, all with silvery leaves, that work wonderfully in Italian-style dishes. You’ll find the aromatic foliage is great for adding flavour to tomato sauces, breads, and of course, pizza.

These are Mediterranean plants at heart, so they all enjoy similar conditions. Give them a spot in full sun where the soil is light and drains well; they can’t stand sitting in wet ground, especially over winter. Most will form compact, bushy mounds, making them ideal for containers or the front of a dry, sunny border.

To get the best from them, harvest the leaves regularly throughout the summer. This encourages the plants to produce more fresh, tasty growth. A collection like this is a real treat, kept in a terracotta pot where you can easily snip a few leaves for cooking.
