‘Many Happy Returns’ is a first-rate red peony, American Peony Society Gold Medal winner in 2007 and Award of Landscape Merit holder (2009). Fully double warm-red flowers with classic bomb form and good substance open in late spring to early summer, lasting 7 to 10 days.
Plants form a lush bushy mound around 75cm tall and a bit wider, with sturdy stems that rarely need staking. Long-lived, as peonies go, lasting decades once settled.
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, with the crown set no deeper than 5cm below soil level. Don’t move peonies once established.
A proper statement plant for a cottage-garden border, a formal peony bed, or for the cut-flower patch.
