Lilium ‘Arosa’

Lilium ‘Arosa’ is a truly elegant Oriental lily, producing big, multi-petalled pure white flowers from mid-summer. It’s one we recommend for wedding flowers, not just for the colour but because it’s pollen-free, so there are no messy stamens to stain clothing. The flowers carry a sweet scent and last well in a vase.

Strong, upright stems carry the large blooms, reaching around 0.9 to 1.1 metres tall. Like most lilies, ‘Arosa’ does best when its flowers are in the sun but its roots are kept cool and shaded. Plant the bulbs in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. It’s an excellent choice for growing in large pots or tubs on the patio.

Lilies need very little looking after. Once a flower has faded, you can snip the head off to keep the plant looking tidy. At the end of the season, wait for the foliage and stems to turn yellow and die back naturally before cutting them down to ground level. This allows the bulb to store energy for next year’s display.
