Product information
‘Lupini Red’ is part of a dwarf lupin series bred for compact height, strong upright spikes and first-year flowering. Dense conical flower spikes in a vivid red-with-white keel rise above mounds of bright green divided foliage in early summer.
Plants reach around 50 to 60cm in flower, much shorter than the old border lupins, so they stand up well without staking. Brilliant for pots and front-of-border planting where bigger lupins would flop.
Plant in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Deadhead spent spikes for a second flush in late summer. Snails and slugs love young lupins, so protect new growth in spring.
A firm favourite for cottage-garden borders, patio pots and small-space colour schemes.
