Product information
‘Duchesse de Nemours’ is one of the oldest and most-loved white peonies, raised in France in 1856. Large fully double flowers open pure creamy-white with a lemon-yellow flush at the heart, softly fragrant. Early flowering, usually late May and June.
Plants form a bushy clump to around 75 to 90cm tall, with dark green divided foliage. Strong stems hold the flowers well, though staking helps with the heaviest blooms. Superb cut flower.
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, with the crown no deeper than 5cm below soil level. Don’t move once established. Long-lived, often 50 years or more.
A classic choice for cottage gardens, peony beds, and cutting gardens.
