Product information
‘Pensham Plum Jerkum’ is a richly-coloured penstemon from the Pensham series, bred by Edward Wilson for hardiness and long flowering. Upright racemes carry small tubular flowers in a deep plum-purple with white-mottled throats, from early summer right through to mid-autumn.
The plant stays semi-evergreen, forming a bushy clump around 70cm tall and wide, with lance-shaped green leaves. Labelled RHS Plants for Pollinators.
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Dislikes heavy wet soils in winter. Deadhead spent racemes to maintain vigour, and mulch over the crown in colder regions for winter protection.
A firm favourite for a cottage border, a mixed perennial scheme, or a container where the colour can really count.
