Product information

We’re really fond of this compact catmint in our perennial tunnels. Nepeta ‘Baby Cat’ forms a neat, clump-forming mound of fragrant green foliage that stays tidy all season. From early summer into autumn, it produces lovely, straight stems carrying spikes of small, purple-blue flowers that are a magnet for bees.

This is a smaller variety, reaching only about 30cm in height and spread, making it perfect for smaller spaces. It has a naturally rounded habit and prefers a spot in full sun or light shade with free-draining soil. It’s not fussy about soil type, as long as it doesn’t sit in waterlogged ground over winter.

Like all catmints, this one is wonderfully low-maintenance. To encourage a second flush of flowers later in the season, we recommend shearing the whole plant back after the first blooms have faded. It’s a brilliant plant for softening the edges of a path or border, and works a treat in containers.
