Product information
‘Varella’ is a compact globe-shaped dwarf mountain pine with an interesting needle habit: the previous year’s growth carries long needles around 11cm long with a slight twist, while the current year’s new growth shows as tight clusters at the tips. The overall effect is textural and tidy.
Slow-growing, reaching around 1m tall and 2m wide over many years. Hardy and trouble-free, fine in exposed windy spots and coastal sites.
Plant in any well-drained soil in full sun. No pruning needed, though it can be shaped if required. Very low-maintenance once settled.
A firm favourite for rock gardens, gravel beds, coastal plantings, and large patio containers.
