Product information

This is a really special, architectural plant that we’ve had great success with on the nursery. Pinus nigra ‘Brepo’ is a dwarf, slow-growing pine which forms a naturally dense, rounded shape. The needles are a lovely deep green colour and hold that colour right through the winter. This particular specimen has been expertly pruned over many years into a ‘cloud’ form, creating distinct evergreen pads.

Ultimately, it’s a small grower, reaching perhaps a metre or so. It’s a tough plant, happy in any well-drained soil and it loves a position in full sun. It’s also tolerant of windy spots and coastal areas, so it’s a versatile choice for many gardens. We find it does very well in large containers, provided the drainage is good.

Very little maintenance is needed. The cloud shape is already established, so you’ll only need to trim the new growth of the current season to maintain the shape. It’s a fantastic choice for adding a touch of Japanese style or simply as a low-maintenance structural feature in a pot or a sunny, well-drained border.
