Product information
‘Blue Dwarf’ is a compact form of Japanese larch, slow-growing and rounded rather than the tall columnar habit of the species. Soft blue-green needles in whorled rosettes along horizontal branches turn a warm golden-yellow in autumn before dropping.
Plants reach around 1 to 1.5m tall and a little wider over many years, forming a tidy mound. One of the few deciduous conifers, which means you get bare twig structure in winter as well as autumn colour.
Plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Tough and hardy, fine in exposed positions. Minimal pruning needed.
A cracking specimen for a rockery, a gravel garden, a large container, or as a compact accent in a mixed bed.
