Product information
This is a lovely, compact tree we’ve grown on our Thurning ground, prized for its long season of interest. In late spring, it produces beautiful, flat-topped sprays of delicate white flowers. These are followed in late summer by bunches of vibrant red berries, which are a great food source for garden birds.
Sorbus ‘Red Robin’ is a dwarf rowan, specially grafted to keep it small and manageable. It has an attractive, open habit with fine, dark green leaves that give good autumn colour before they fall. It will grow happily in most moist but well-drained soils, and prefers a spot in full sun or partial shade.
Once established, it needs very little attention. We recommend leaving the berries on for the birds to enjoy over winter. It’s an excellent, well-behaved tree for bringing height and wildlife to a restricted space, like a courtyard or a border amongst perennials.
