Product information

This is one of our most popular hedging plants, and for good reason. Its standout feature is the vibrant golden-yellow foliage which holds its colour well all year, often deepening to a rich gold or bronze in winter. It provides a dense, effective screen much faster than most other evergreens we grow on our Thurning ground.

A vigorous grower, it can put on 75-90cm a year and can reach a significant height if left untrimmed. It has a dense, columnar habit and thrives in most well-drained soils. For the best and brightest foliage colour, we recommend planting it in full sun, though it will tolerate partial shade.

To keep it as a smart, dense hedge, you’ll need to trim it two or three times during the growing season, from late spring to late summer. Be careful not to cut back into the old, brown wood, as it won’t regrow from there. Its rapid growth makes it ideal for quickly establishing privacy screens and windbreaks.
