Product information

A familiar sight in UK gardens, and for good reason. Leylandii is incredibly fast-growing, making it a superb choice for creating structure and form quickly. Its dense, feathery foliage has a lovely deep green to blue-green hue which it holds right through the winter, providing a constant backdrop when other plants have died back.

This is a vigorous plant, capable of reaching great heights if left to its own devices, but it takes extremely well to regular clipping which is what makes it so suitable for topiary. It will thrive in a wide range of soils, from clay to sand, as long as the ground is well-drained. For the best and densest growth, a spot in full sun is ideal, although it will happily tolerate partial shade.

To keep your topiary looking sharp, you’ll need to trim it regularly. We recommend clipping it two or three times during the growing season, between April and late August. This regular attention will encourage the dense, tight habit that makes formal shapes look so effective in the garden, whether as a standalone feature or to add height to a border.
