Product information

Clematis ‘Boulivard Ninon’ is a truly delightful compact deciduous climber from the renowned Boulevard® series, celebrated for its exceptional free-flowering nature and manageable size. We’re particularly fond of its stunning, large pure white flowers, which boast beautifully wavy-edged petals and vibrant reddish-purple anthers, creating a captivating contrast. This cultivar is a real workhorse in the garden, blooming prolifically from late spring right through to early autumn, ensuring a long season of interest that we’ve admired year after year.

For optimal performance, we recommend planting ‘Ninon’ in a spot that receives full sun to partial shade, ensuring its roots are kept cool and shaded – perhaps by a layer of pebbles or some low-growing perennials at its base. It thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, preferring a neutral to alkaline pH; if your soil is on the acidic side, a little lime can be beneficial. This hardy clematis is suitable for most UK gardens, tolerating temperatures down to -15°C to -20°C (H6).

‘Boulivard Ninon’ falls into Pruning Group 2. We advise a light prune in late winter or early spring (February/March) to remove any weak or dead stems and to shape the plant, cutting back to a strong pair of buds. This encourages healthy growth and a strong framework for its repeat flowering. Its compact habit makes it an excellent choice for containers on patios or balconies, as well as for adorning smaller trellises, fences, or walls. The pure white blooms are also fantastic for cutting, bringing elegance indoors, and are a magnet for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds in the garden.
