Product information
‘Command Performance’ is one of the great red peonies. Huge fully double, bomb-type flowers open a startling cardinal-red and gradually soften to carmine-pink as they age, and the scent is strong and properly peony.
Plants reach around 75 to 80cm and flower in midseason, usually late May into June. Medium green foliage provides a good backdrop for the blooms and stays tidy through summer.
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, with the crown set no deeper than 5cm below soil level. Peonies dislike being moved once established, so pick the final spot carefully. Stake large-flowered forms to hold the heavy blooms upright.
A proper cottage-garden classic for a sunny border, or one of the best garden peonies for cutting.
