Product information
‘Red Wine’ (sometimes spelled ‘Redwine’) is a slow-growing small Japanese maple with attractive changeable foliage. Leaves emerge bronze-tinted, mature through spring and summer to green with red leaf tips and edges, then turn warm orangey-red in autumn.
Forms a small tree or large shrub, well-suited to beds, borders, large containers, or as a specimen plant. Reaches around 2 to 3m tall eventually, slow growth rate.
Plant in moist but well-drained soil in partial shade for best colour, though full sun is tolerated. Water in dry summer spells to avoid leaf scorch. Minimal pruning.
A cracking dwarf specimen for a patio pot, a woodland-edge border, or a Japanese-style scheme.
