‘Greenmantle’ is a low-growing prostrate form of common juniper, making a dense green mat of needle-fine foliage. Plants hug the ground and spread slowly outward, eventually reaching 30 to 45cm tall and 2m or more wide.
Fresh green new growth flushes each spring, and the plant stays evergreen through the year. Tough, fully hardy, and one of the best low-spreading conifers for difficult spots.
Plant in well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates poor, dry, chalky, sandy ground and exposed coastal sites. Minimal pruning, trim lightly if needed to shape.
A firm favourite for rockeries, gravel gardens, slopes, dry banks, and anywhere you’d like low evergreen ground cover that won’t need much attention.
