Product information
We’ve been impressed with Pinus nigra ‘Marie Brégeon’ on the nursery. It’s a dwarf pine that naturally grows into a dense, tidy ball shape without any pruning. The needles are a fresh, light green colour and have a soft appearance. It’s an evergreen, so it provides a reliable splash of colour and texture right through the winter months.
This is a slow-growing pine, eventually reaching about one metre tall and wide after ten or twenty years. It’s not fussy about soil, as long as it’s well-drained, and it loves a spot in full sun. It’s extremely hardy, so you won’t need to worry about it during a cold UK winter.
Once it’s settled in, ‘Marie Brégeon’ is very low-maintenance and drought tolerant. No pruning is needed to keep its lovely rounded shape. It’s a great little architectural plant for a rockery, a gravel garden, or a large pot on the patio.
