Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Golf Ball’

‘Golf Ball’ does exactly what the name suggests, it naturally forms a dense rounded ball without any clipping. Small glossy bright green leaves on dark stems cover the plant top to bottom, and the tight natural shape needs minimal work.

Slow-growing, eventually reaching around 80cm tall and wide, so it stays in scale for a long time. Immune to box blight, which makes it one of the most reliable modern box alternatives.

Plant in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, sheltered from cold drying winds. Drought-tolerant once settled. Light clip if required to maintain shape.

A firm favourite for doorstep pots, formal paired plantings, low hedges, and clipped accents in mixed borders.
