Rudbeckia fulgida sullivantii ‘Goldsturm’

‘Goldsturm’ is the gold-standard black-eyed Susan. Rich deep-yellow daisy-like flowers, up to 12cm across, sit around a dark central cone. Blooming runs from midsummer right into early autumn, and the flowers are loved by bees and late butterflies.

It forms a clump of erect stems reaching 60 to 90cm tall, with narrowly ovate mid-green leaves. RHS Award of Garden Merit, and recommended as a Plant for Pollinators.

Full sun in moist but well-drained soil. Cut back hard in spring, and divide every few years to keep clumps vigorous. A reliable prairie-style partner with grasses, sedums and echinaceas.
