Product information
‘Ostfriesland’ (East Friesland) is a classic meadow sage with upright spikes of small violet-blue tubular flowers over neat clumps of aromatic grey-green leaves. Flowers from early summer with several repeat flushes if you shear back after each flowering round, right through into autumn.
Plants reach around 40 to 50cm tall and wide, forming a compact tidy clump. A magnet for bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
Plant in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Drought-tolerant once settled. Shear back spent spikes to prolong the display.
A firm favourite for a sunny border, a cottage-garden scheme, a gravel bed, or underplanting roses.
