Product information
‘Conference’ is the pear everyone grows and for good reason: reliably productive, partially self-fertile, and producing long elegant pears with sweet juicy white flesh. Raised in Hertfordshire in 1885, it’s still the most widely-grown pear in the UK. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Fruits ripen in October, perfect eaten fresh and excellent for poaching, jams and cooking. Will set fruit alone, but crops heavier with a pollination partner. Pretty white blossom in April.
Plant in full sun in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Winter-prune for framework, summer-prune trained forms.
A firm favourite for kitchen gardens, family orchards, and trained fan or espalier forms on walls.
