Product information
‘Morello’ is the classic culinary acid cherry, grown across Europe for centuries. Clusters of white blossom in April are followed by dark red to almost black fruits in July, with a sharp acid flavour that’s perfect for cooking, jams, cherry pies and preserving.
Unlike dessert cherries, ‘Morello’ is fully self-fertile so a single tree crops heavily on its own, and it tolerates part shade, even a north-facing wall, making it one of the most versatile fruit trees for difficult spots.
Plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Prune in midsummer only, taking out old flowered wood to keep new growth coming. Can be trained as a fan against a wall.
A firm favourite for a kitchen garden, a shady wall, or a compact orchard tree.
