Product information
‘Beth’ is a reliable early English pear, raised at East Malling in 1938, with small to medium yellow-green fruits flushed with russet. The flesh is white, fine-textured, juicy and sweet, ready to eat off the tree from late August into September.
Trees are compact and productive, coming into cropping young, with a partially self-fertile habit that crops heavier with a pollination partner. White blossom covers the tree in April.
Plant in full sun in deep, moist but well-drained soil. Winter-prune for framework, summer-prune trained forms. ‘Beth’ is a great choice for a smaller garden or trained form on a sunny wall.
A firm favourite for kitchen gardens, small orchards, and trained pear espaliers.
