Product information
‘Williams’ Bon Chretien’ (known as Bartlett in North America) is one of the most famous dessert pears in the world, raised in England around 1770. Medium-to-large fruits ripen pale golden-yellow with a rosy flush, with melting juicy white flesh and a rich aromatic sweet flavour that’s hard to beat.
Ripens in early to mid September. Best eaten slightly under-ripe and ripened at room temperature for a few days. Not self-fertile, so plant with a pollination partner.
Plant in full sun in deep, moist but well-drained soil. Winter-prune for framework.
A firm favourite for kitchen gardens, heritage orchards, and trained forms on sunny walls.
