Product information
‘Sunburst’ is a modern self-fertile sweet cherry raised in Canada, producing heavy crops of large dark red-purple fruits with sweet juicy flesh in early to mid July. Self-fertility means a single tree crops on its own, useful where there’s only room for one.
White blossom in April. Trees are vigorous but usually kept to a manageable size on modern dwarfing rootstocks.
Plant in full sun in moist, well-drained soil. Prune in midsummer only, to avoid silver leaf. Net against birds as the fruit ripens.
A firm favourite for a small kitchen garden, a family orchard, or trained as a fan on a sunny wall.
