Product information
A classic English apricot, and one we’ve kept on for years for its reliability. ‘Early Moorpark’ is well-suited to the UK climate, producing fragrant light-pink blossoms in early spring before the leaves appear. These give way to a crop of delicious, juicy apricots with pale yellow skin and an orange blush.
This is a self-fertile tree with an average growth rate, reaching an ultimate height of around 4 metres. It will flourish in a warm, sheltered spot in full sun, and prefers a well-drained, moisture-retentive soil. Because it flowers so early, the blossom can be vulnerable to late frosts, so a position against a south or west-facing wall is ideal for protection.
For the best results, prune established trees in early summer after the fruit has been picked. It’s a great choice for a cottage or informal garden, and can even be grown in a large container on the patio if space is tight.
