Product information
‘Golden Delicious’ is one of the world’s most widely-grown apples, raised in West Virginia in the 1890s. Medium-to-large fruits ripen a clear yellow, with crisp juicy cream-yellow flesh and a mild sweet flavour that appeals to all ages.
Trees are productive and come into cropping young. Fruits ripen in October and store very well through winter into spring, one of the best keepers you can grow. Good as a pollinator for other apples too.
Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Not self-fertile, so plant with a compatible pollination partner. Prune in winter for framework.
A firm favourite for kitchen gardens, family orchards, and trained espalier work.
