Product information
‘Discovery’ is a modern early apple raised in Essex in the 1940s, a chance seedling of Worcester Pearmain. Medium fruits ripen bright red over yellow-green, with crisp juicy white flesh pink-tinged near the skin, and a pleasant sweet slightly aromatic flavour.
Reliable cropper, ripens in mid to late August (early season). Doesn’t keep long, so eat fresh. Partially self-fertile, crops heavier with a pollinator.
Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Winter-prune for framework. Good disease resistance makes it a reliable family orchard choice.
A firm favourite for family gardens, kitchen orchards, and trained forms.
