Product information
‘Victoria’ is the most widely-grown plum in the UK, raised in Sussex in the 1840s. Large oval fruits ripen in August with pink-red skin over golden-yellow flesh, sweet and juicy, equally good eaten fresh or cooked in jams, pies and puddings. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Reliable heavy cropper, self-fertile so a single tree will crop on its own. White blossom covers the tree in April.
Plant in full sun in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Prune in midsummer only, to avoid silver leaf. Thin heavy fruit loads in early summer to reduce branch breakage and encourage regular cropping.
A proper garden staple for kitchen gardens, family orchards, and trained fan forms on walls.
