Abelia × grandiflora ‘Magic Daydream’

Abelia x grandiflora ‘Magic Daydream’ is a compact cultivar prized for its long season of delicate, sweetly scented flowers. The blooms open pink and fade to white, creating a two-tone effect that extends from midsummer well into autumn, drawing in pollinators throughout the season.

This shrub reaches around 1.5 metres tall and spreads to a similar width, with a naturally bushy, upright habit. It prefers full sun to partial shade and thrives in well-drained soil. Unlike some abelias, this cultivar retains much of its foliage through winter in the UK, though it may lose leaves in severe cold.

Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. It suits mixed borders, containers on patios, and sheltered positions where the fragrance can be appreciated. In colder regions, a south-facing wall offers valuable protection.
