Callistemon ‘Laevis’ catches the eye with its bright red bottlebrush flowers. They appear in clusters at branch tips. The stamens give that classic fluffy look. We see plenty of pollinators visiting them here at Tandee & Van den Berk.
This cultivar grows to around 4-6 metres tall with a similar spread. It forms a rounded shrub. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Shelter from harsh winds helps in cooler spots near Peterborough.
Water regularly when young. Mulch to keep roots cool. Prune lightly after flowering to shape. Fits well in large borders or as a patio tree in pots. We’ve grown it successfully on our Thurning ground.
