Product information
This cultivar of the Box Elder is a real standout in our Thurning ground during the spring months. The new leaves emerge with a distinct shrimp-pink margin that gradually fades to a clean white as the season progresses. It provides a bright, airy feel to the garden that few other variegated trees can match.
It typically grows as a small, multi-stemmed tree or a large shrub with a rounded habit. Expect it to reach a height of around 6 to 8 metres over twenty years. It is not fussy about soil types but does best in a spot with moist, well-drained earth and plenty of light.
We recommend a hard prune in late winter to keep the plant compact and encourage the most vibrant pink growth the following year. It works well as a specimen tree in a small garden or at the back of a wide border where its light foliage can contrast against darker evergreens.
