Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Tom Thumb’

Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Tom Thumb’ catches the eye with its glossy, dark purple foliage. The leaves emerge green, then darken to near-black. New growth adds a fresh contrast through the seasons. It holds its colour reliably in our Thurning nursery beds.

This dwarf shrub grows to 1m tall and wide. It forms a dense, rounded habit. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. It prefers full sun to partial shade. Shelter from cold winds and frost protects the foliage.

Minimal pruning keeps the shape tidy. Trim lightly after the last frost. It suits coastal gardens, city borders or containers. We’ve grown it for years in pots near our sales area.
