Product information
This panicle hydrangea is prized for its long flowering season and colour transformation. The flower panicles emerge lime-green in mid-summer, gradually shifting through cream and soft pink to deeper rose-red by autumn, often holding colour well into winter.
‘Limelight’ grows as a vigorous, upright deciduous shrub, typically reaching 1.5 to 2 metres tall and wide. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Unlike mophead hydrangeas, panicle types are more tolerant of alkaline soils and less fussy about pH.
Prune in late winter or early spring, cutting back stems to a framework to encourage strong new growth and larger flower heads. The plant suits mixed borders, informal hedging, and large containers. It’s particularly valuable for extending colour into the darker months when many other shrubs have faded.
