Cytisus ‘Lena’

This dwarf broom cultivar produces masses of small, pea-like flowers in a striking combination of deep red upper petals and golden yellow lower petals. The blooms appear in late spring and early summer, creating a cheerful display that attracts pollinators.

‘Lena’ grows as a low, spreading shrub, typically reaching 60-90 cm in height with a similar spread. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun, thriving in poor to moderately fertile conditions. The fine, feathery foliage is bright green and remains attractive even when the plant is not in flower.

This broom is best left unpruned or given only a light trim after flowering to maintain its natural shape. It suits rock gardens, sunny borders, and container planting where its compact habit and long flowering period can be appreciated. Avoid heavy clay soils and waterlogged sites.
