Product information
‘Egremont Russet’ is the most widely-grown English russet apple, raised in Somerset in the 1870s. Medium fruits ripen with the characteristic golden-brown textured russet skin, with firm crisp cream-yellow flesh and a distinctive rich nutty slightly pear-like flavour that ages beautifully over storage.
Reliable cropper, partially self-fertile. Fruits ripen in October and keep well until Christmas. Pretty white blossom in April.
Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Winter-prune for framework. Tolerant of colder wetter conditions than some apples.
A firm favourite for heritage kitchen gardens, family orchards, and trained forms on sunny walls.
