Product information
‘Lutescens’ is one of the most striking whitebeams. Young leaves emerge covered in dense creamy-white silver felt in spring, gradually shedding the felt on the upper surface to reveal glossy green, while keeping silver undersides that flash in the breeze. Autumn brings warm yellow-gold tones. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Forms a small-to-medium upright tree with a conical crown, reaching around 8 to 10m tall and 5 to 7m wide. White flower clusters in late spring are followed by red berries in autumn.
Plant in any well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Tolerates chalk beautifully. Minimal pruning.
A proper specimen tree for a lawn, a street-side planting, or as part of a mixed boundary.
