Syringa ‘Red Pixie’

Syringa ‘Red Pixie’ is a dwarf lilac cultivar bred to bring the fragrant charm of traditional lilacs into smaller spaces. The deep red-purple flower spikes appear in late spring, holding their colour well and attracting pollinators throughout the flowering season.

This is a slow-growing shrub, typically reaching 1.5 to 2 metres at maturity. It prefers full sun to partial shade and thrives in well-drained soil with moderate fertility. Unlike larger lilac varieties, ‘Red Pixie’ remains compact and manageable, making it suitable for confined garden areas and container cultivation.

Lilacs benefit from light pruning after flowering to maintain shape and encourage next year’s blooms. ‘Red Pixie’ works particularly well in small borders, as a specimen in a large pot, or as part of a mixed shrub planting where you want seasonal interest without overwhelming the space.
