Product information
‘Argentea Marginata’ is the classic silver-edged English holly, one of the most reliable variegated hollies. Glossy dark green leaves are boldly edged with creamy-white margins, and mature plants produce heavy crops of bright red berries through winter, which need a male holly nearby for reliable pollination.
Forms a dense upright evergreen tree or large shrub, eventually around 6 to 8m tall, with a pyramidal habit. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Plant in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Variegation stays brightest in sunny positions. Clip to shape in late spring, tolerates hard pruning well.
A firm favourite for Christmas wreath-making, winter interest, variegated hedging, or as a formal specimen tree.
